Yves Saint Laurent Beauty has just released their new Voulpte Tint-in-Balm in the US. I’ve always been in love with the gorgeous metal case and tropical fruit scent of YSL’s lip products, but these tinted balms take my infatuation to a new level. The lip-shaped portion of the balm gives lips a dash of natural color, while the balm surrounding it nourishes lips with rich ingredients like macadamia butter, jojoba oil and passion fruit.
There are 12 shades currently, and YSL Beauty categorizes them into three groups based on their shade: “Me But Flirtier,” “Me But Sexier,” and “Me But Hotter.” These shades aren’t meant to cover your natural lip color, but to enhance it and make it pop. I chose all of the shades in the “Me But Flirtier” group to try – these are the lightest and most natural shades of the bunch and are universally flattering. They range from nude to pink to peachy.

As you can tell, there isn’t a huge difference in color for the different shades I chose – this is because most of the pigment comes from the core. No.1 Dream Me Nude is definitely the most pigmented of this group. These have the same delectable fruity cocktail scent that all YSL lipsticks have and feel slippery and glossy on the lips. They aren’t sticky and feel as hydrating as any good balm should – you can tell that this balm is made largely of oils by the texture. The texture reminds me of my beloved Drunk Elephant Lippe, but with the added bonus of a tint and gorgeous metal case. The glazed texture lasts a few hours on my lips and leaves a tint behind after the balm has soaked in.
These beauties are available at Nordstrom, Sephora, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Barney’s and Bloomingdale’s and they’re selling out extremely fast – if your color is sold out, you can often pre-order it so you don’t miss out again.
